In May 2026, the enterprise “Cherkasy Azot” resumed urea exports to European Union countries. Production and Market Prices
In the domestic market of Ukraine, urea is sold by traders and suppliers at a price of 43,800–47,000 UAH per ton (FCA-ports including VAT). The enterprise currently produces both urea and liquid nitrogen fertilizers (UAN). In April 2026, the plant produced over 35 thousand tons of urea, part of which has already been exported abroad. Further growth in production volumes is expected in May.
Economic Advantages and Market Prospects
The plant operates two ammonia units – A-3 and A-5. It is noted that urea exports are beneficial for Ukrainian producers, as the cost of ammonia in Ukraine is approximately half the price compared to EU countries. A similar situation is observed regarding urea, which ensures the profitability of production and export of this product.
“We expect that the Ukrainian nitrogen fertilizer market will take a pause until mid-June 2026, with active large purchases potentially starting only in June, as agribusinesses are waiting for a resolution regarding the Hormuz Strait, while Ukrainian producers are trying to take advantage of the pause and offer goods for export at favorable prices. This is a rational decision for Ukrainian producers under current conditions,” comments analyst Dmytro Hordeychuk on the situation.
