As of December 1, 2025, the volumes of grain and leguminous crops in Kazakhstan amounted to 22.1 million tons, of which 18.4 million tons are intended for food needs. This data is provided by the National Statistics Bureau of the country.

Structure of Grain Stocks in Kazakhstan

The largest share of total stocks is occupied by wheat — 17.9 million tons, of which 16 million tons are for food. Additionally, the country’s warehouses contain 981 thousand tons of durum wheat, 2.5 million tons of barley, 299 thousand tons of rice, 268 thousand tons of corn, and 247 thousand tons of oats.

Regional Distribution of Stocks and Foreign Trade

The main stocks of grain and leguminous crops are concentrated in the northern and central regions of Kazakhstan. In particular, Akmolinsk region accounts for 6.6 million tons, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions each have 5.5 million tons. Karaganda region holds 1.2 million tons, Pavlodar region — 952 thousand tons, and East Kazakhstan region — 466 thousand tons. In other regions of the country, stocks vary from 60 to 400 thousand tons.

From January to September 2025, wheat exports from Kazakhstan reached 5.4 million tons, while imports amounted to 432 thousand tons. Barley export figures stood at 1.2 million tons, with imports at 64 thousand tons. Corn exports during this period totaled 101 thousand tons, with imports at 15 thousand tons.

Thus, Kazakhstan demonstrates a stable level of domestic grain stocks and active participation in international agricultural trade, ensuring food security and supporting the export potential of the state.
