The Canadian HONOR Project Will Promote the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives and Women’s Entrepreneurship in Ukraine
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine to discuss the launch of the large-scale HONOR project, initiated by the Canadian non-governmental organization SOCODEVI with the support of the Government of Canada. The project aims to strengthen the agricultural sector of our country, particularly by supporting farmers, building the cooperative movement, and promoting women’s entrepreneurship in rural communities.

Strategic Support for Cooperatives and Women’s Leadership
The HONOR project is seen as a key initiative for the development of rural areas in Ukraine. It not only aims to create new employment opportunities but also actively promotes women’s leadership. As noted by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oksana Osmachko,
“The new HONOR project will be an important support for Ukrainian farmers. Moreover, the experience of developing cooperatives is extremely important for Ukraine, as it is a guarantee of success for rural areas in terms of employment and women’s leadership.”
Scope and Objectives of the HONOR Program
HONOR is focused on enhancing the resilience of agri-food systems, implementing cooperative models, and supporting women’s entrepreneurship in response to the serious transformations caused by the consequences of the war. The project will unite the cooperative movement and key stakeholders to develop over 50 cooperatives that will provide quality services to their members. Approximately 5,000 farmers will receive support to improve their production capacities in areas such as dairy farming, berry cultivation, vegetable growing, beekeeping, and grain production.
In addition, the program includes the implementation of pilot projects in the areas of social, energy, and other types of cooperatives to strengthen the infrastructure of rural communities.
The implementation of HONOR in Ukraine is carried out by SOCODEVI in partnership with the Public Union “Business Network of Rural Women” and the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Public Organization “Agricultural Consulting Service.”
