Ukraine Exported €4.4 Billion of Grains and Agricultural Products to the EU in 2024

Throughout 2024, Ukraine actively expanded its trade with the European Union, particularly in the agricultural sector. By the end of the year, the volume of agricultural exports from Ukraine to EU countries reached €4.4 billion. The main items of this export included grain crops, animal and vegetable fats and oils, as well as oilseeds and related products.

Growth of Trade Between Ukraine and the EU in 2024

In 2024, the European Union exported goods worth €42.8 billion to Ukraine, while imports from Ukraine to the EU amounted to €24.5 billion. This resulted in a positive trade balance for the EU of €18.3 billion. Trade figures showed growth: exports increased by 9.4%, while imports rose by 7.0% compared to 2023.

Among the main commodity groups that the EU sent to Ukraine, leading were mineral fuels (€6.8 billion), electrical machinery (€4.3 billion), and various equipment (€4.2 billion). Particularly significant growth was recorded in the mineral fuel category — compared to 2021, its export to Ukraine increased by €4.1 billion. This is attributed to a decrease in supplies of this type of fuel from the Russian Federation and Belarus, which were partially compensated by imports from EU countries.

Structure of Ukrainian Exports to the EU

In 2024, Ukraine strengthened its position in the European market thanks to the agricultural sector. The value of grain exports to EU countries reached €4.4 billion, which is €2.7 billion more than in 2021. At the same time, exports of animal or vegetable fats and oils increased by €1.0 billion, reaching €3.1 billion. Oilseeds and related products were exported for €2.5 billion, which is €1.1 billion more compared to 2021.
