Ukraine exported over 800 thousand tons of cake and meal by rail in the first quarter of 2026

According to the results of January–March 2026, Ukraine exported 808,600 tons of cake and meal by rail. This data was announced during an online meeting between representatives of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and participants in the agricultural market, which took place on April 2.

Growth in cake and meal export volumes

In the first quarter of this year, the volume of railway exports of cake and meal significantly increased, exceeding last year’s figures by 30.4%. In March alone, 282,200 tons of this product were transported for export, which is 15.6% more than in February and 1.6 times more compared to March of last year.

The vast majority of exported cake and meal — 79% — was transported through border crossings. The share of transportation through seaports accounted for only 21% of the total volume.

Dynamics of oil exports by rail

In addition to cake and meal, there was an increase in oil exports by rail in March. For the month, the volume of oil exports reached 158,900 tons, which is 9.1% more than in February and 19.3% higher than the figure for March of last year. Of this, 57% of the oil was transported through border crossings, while 43% was transported through ports.

“In the first quarter of this year, 420 thousand tons of oil were exported. This volume exceeds the corresponding period last year by 4%.”

Thus, the first quarter of 2026 was marked by a significant increase in railway exports of key agro-industrial products, indicating the strengthening of Ukraine’s position in international markets.
