Ukraine to Increase Wheat and Corn Exports in the 2025/26 Season

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released its first forecast for Ukrainian grain exports for the 2025/26 marketing year. According to experts, Ukraine will be able to boost external supplies of key agricultural products, particularly wheat and corn.

Forecast for the New Season: Exports and Yields

According to the USDA forecast, in the 2025/26 marketing year, wheat exports from Ukraine will reach 16.5 million tons. This is despite the expected slight decrease in total wheat harvest to 23 million tons this year. At the same time, corn production, according to American specialists, is expected to increase to 30.5 million tons, with exports rising to 24 million tons.

The total harvest of feed crops is projected to be at 37.04 million tons. Export volumes will also show significant growth: up to 27.58 million tons compared to 24.48 million tons the previous year.

Export Rates and Progress of the Sowing Campaign

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy reports that as of May 12, since the beginning of the 2024/2025 marketing year, Ukraine has already exported 36.4 million tons of grains and legumes. In May, as of the specified date, 1.17 million tons were shipped. In comparison, during the same period last year, exports amounted to 43.21 million tons, of which 1.85 million tons were sent in May.

“Currently, farmers have sown grains and legumes on 76% of the sown area. This is over 4.3 million hectares. The government expects that the 2025 harvest will be no less than last year’s.”
