The Importance of Danube Ports for Ukrainian Exports

Deputy Minister of Development Andriy Kashuba emphasized that the Danube logistics route remains a critically important alternative export path for Ukraine. According to the official, this route has demonstrated its strategic role even amid challenges posed by security threats. Major cargo owners are already considering the possibility of redirecting cargo flows to these ports, making their uninterrupted operation under constant attacks extremely relevant.

“The Danube logistics route remains a critically important alternative export route for Ukraine, which has already proven its strategic role. Major cargo owners are continuously factoring in the scenario of redirecting flows to the Danube ports, so it is essential to ensure their resilience, security, and stable operation even in the face of constant shelling,” added Kashuba.

International Cooperation and Infrastructure Development

During negotiations involving representatives from Ukraine, the European Commission, Romania, and Moldova, ways to enhance regional cooperation were discussed. A particular emphasis was placed on the need to attract additional European funding for the restoration and further development of the port infrastructure in the Danube region. Such steps are intended to ensure logistical stability and support exports amid security threats and energy challenges related to the intensification of attacks on ports and neighboring cities.
