Chicken Egg Prices in Ukraine Exceeded 90 Hryvnias per Dozen in March 2026

At the end of March 2026, a sharp increase in chicken egg prices is observed in Ukraine, which is one of the key products for consumers. The average price for a pack of 10 eggs reached 87.16 UAH, while in some retail chains, the cost has already surpassed the psychological barrier of 90 hryvnias per dozen.

Discrepancies Between Official Statistics and Store Prices

According to information from the “Minfin” portal, in March, the consumer price index for eggs was 100.98%, which formally indicates an increase of only 0.98% compared to February. However, this figure is averaged, while retail chains have recorded a jump in the minimum price of a pack by an average of 4.50 UAH.

• Silpo: 65.91 UAH
• Varus: 69.80 UAH
• Novus: 78.99 UAH (+5.40 UAH)
• Fora: 79.50 UAH (+4.60 UAH)
• Aushan: 79.50 UAH (+3.60 UAH)
• Metro: 79.50 UAH (+3.50 UAH)
• ATB: 80.60 UAH (+3.90 UAH)
• MegaMarket: 92.00 UAH (+3.80 UAH)

Thus, in some retail outlets, the prices for eggs have already exceeded 90 UAH per pack, significantly affecting the purchasing power of the population.

An alternative for consumers remains the purchase of loose eggs individually, which allows savings on branding and packaging. However, prices are also rising here, approaching the highs typical for festive periods:

• Varus: 5.69 UAH each (without discount — 6.29 UAH);
• Novus: 6.80 UAH each;
• Fora: 6.89 UAH each;
• MegaMarket: 8.00 UAH each.

“The main driver of price growth during this period is the Easter factor. Traditionally, the demand for eggs increases several times, allowing retailers and producers to dictate their terms.”

Agricultural market experts predict that the highest prices for eggs are expected in mid-April. After the holidays, a seasonal decrease in the product’s price by 10–15% is possible, driven by an increase in supply from private households.
