Leaders in the Global Vegetable and Fruit Export Market
According to the statistical department of the United Nations, the key exporters of fresh fruits and vegetables last year were China, Spain, and the Netherlands. China’s export volumes increased significantly by 20%, reaching 13.4 million tons. Spain boosted its exports by 9% to 12 million tons. The Netherlands also saw an 18% increase in exports, totaling 13.4 million tons in 2024.
Other Leading Exporters in the World
Mexico ranked fourth among the largest exporters of fresh vegetables and fruits, exporting 11.3 million tons. However, this is a 6% decrease compared to the previous year. Ecuador took the fifth position with an export volume of 6.5 million tons, showing a significant decline of 12%. The UN notes that the data for 2023 (7.3 million tons) may not be final.
The United States holds the sixth position in the global exporter rankings with 6.2 million tons, which is a 7% increase compared to 2023. Other notable exporters include Turkey and Guatemala, with export volumes of 4.4 and 4.3 million tons, respectively.
