Concerns About Impact on the European Agricultural Market
According to Marta Kos, the European Commission is paying significant attention to the concerns of citizens and governments of member states regarding the potential impact of the Ukrainian agricultural sector on the EU market. She emphasized that these issues are being taken extremely seriously, as they will determine future cooperation in the agricultural sector.
“I am aware of the concerns of citizens and governments of member states, and from the European Commission’s side, we take these concerns very seriously,” Kos emphasized.
Support for Development and Integration into the EU Common Agricultural Policy
Marta Kos highlighted that it is important for the European Union to support the development of Ukrainian agriculture. She noted that the goal is not only for Ukrainian producers to enter the European market but also to expand exports to third countries. At the same time, the priority remains aligning Ukrainian production with EU standards.
Kos also reported that special tools will be applied at the final stage of negotiations to protect the interests of European farmers.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, Taras Vysotsky, stated that Ukrainian agricultural producers are already adhering to many European Union standards in the areas of food safety and traceability. The next step will be the integration of Ukraine’s agricultural sector into the EU Common Agricultural Policy.
