The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine conducted an analysis of the activities of the largest producers of chicken eggs as part of an investigation into the reasons for the price increase of this product. During the inspection, signs of possible violations of competition law by leading market participants were identified.

At the end of May 2025, the AMCU officially began reviewing a case on suspicion of anti-competitive coordinated actions in the area of chicken egg pricing. The focus is on the group of companies “Avangard” (AVANGARDCO IPL) and the group of companies “Ovostar Union” (Ovostar Union). The agency suspects them of possibly coordinating price increases without objective economic grounds, which may contradict the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Economic Competition.”

Market Impact and Further Oversight

The mentioned groups of companies are key producers of shell eggs, and their market share allows them to significantly influence pricing in this segment. The Antimonopoly Committee emphasizes the importance of the poultry product market for providing the population with quality dietary products and stresses the necessity of strict compliance with competition law by all market participants.

It is noted that at the end of May 2025, the AMCU began reviewing a case regarding signs of violations of the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Economic Competition” by the group of companies “Avangard” (AVANGARDCO IPL) and the group of companies “Ovostar Union” (Ovostar Union) in the form of anti-competitive coordinated actions during the formation of prices for chicken eggs without objective reasons in the market.
