AMCU Warns Egg Producers About Price Increases Before Easter

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) on April 3, 2025, provided recommendations to ten of the largest producers and distributors of chicken eggs to prevent violations of economic competition legislation.

Chicken eggs are part of the basic goods that make up the consumer basket; however, their retail prices have increased. This trend is particularly noticeable ahead of the Easter holidays when the demand for this product traditionally rises.
Price Research on Chicken Eggs
AMCU is conducting a study on the fluctuations in prices for chicken eggs, which are related to export-oriented industries. It is important to note that an increase in export volumes may lead to a reduction in supplies to the domestic market, which, in turn, will create conditions for an artificial shortage of eggs in Ukraine.
This will raise prices for end consumers, considering the increased demand before the holidays. In this regard, AMCU warns market participants against raising prices and creating conditions for a shortage.
Producers’ Obligations
Egg producers are required to inform AMCU about the results of the review of the provided recommendations within 10 days. AMCU emphasizes the necessity of complying with legislation and ensuring market stability.
