Influential Members of the Consortium
The winning consortium includes individuals closely associated with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. Among the key participants is renowned billionaire Ronald Lauder, who is one of the proponents of the idea to purchase Greenland due to its rich resources. Additionally, the consortium includes the energy company TechMet, a share of which is owned by the U.S. government investment agency established during Trump’s first presidential term.
Agreement on Access to Ukrainian Resources
Last spring, Kyiv signed an agreement that opens the way for the United States to access Ukrainian mineral resources. In September, the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine announced a competition for the conclusion of an agreement on the distribution of minerals to be extracted and processed at the “Dobra Site” – one of the largest lithium deposits in the country.
According to the subsoil agreement, half of the revenues that the Ukrainian government receives from the lithium “Dobra Site” will be directed to a joint investment fund.
