According to Reuters, 27 EU countries are already facing 25% import tariffs on steel, aluminum, and cars, as well as “reciprocal” tariffs of 20% on most other goods. These tariffs cover approximately 70% of the EU’s exports to the US, which are valued at €532 billion.
On Monday evening, the European Commission intends to present a list of American goods to the bloc’s members that will be subject to new tariffs. The total value of these goods could reach $28 billion, including meat, grains, wine, wood, clothing, as well as pilot jackets and toilet paper.
The UK is Also Responding
In turn, the UK has prepared a 400-page list containing 8,000 categories of American goods that may be subject to tariffs in response to Trump’s actions. This list covers about 27% of British imports from the US. Over the next four weeks, consultations with the business community will take place in the country, as the British government intends to find a compromise solution and will consider all possible options to reach an agreement with the US.
