Comment from Naftogaz on NABU’s statement regarding potential losses of 1.6 billion hryvnias

The Naftogaz group expressed its position on March 22 regarding the accusations from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), which claims that the company’s inaction may lead to significant financial losses.

In a statement, Naftogaz emphasizes its active cooperation with all government bodies to return assets to Ukraine:
“Naftogaz collaborates with authorized ministries, departments, and anti-corruption agencies to return assets to Ukraine. This is one of the important areas of the company’s activities, which requires a coordinated position and synchronization of actions with all stakeholders.”
The company noted that the NABU request concerns the cancellation of the plaintiff status in the criminal proceedings, therefore, for a decision to be made, Naftogaz needs coordination with government authorities. The company is making every possible effort to meet NABU’s requirements.
Earlier, NABU pointed out the “unexplained inaction” of Naftogaz, which, according to them, could lead to losses amounting to 1.6 billion hryvnias. The agency indicates that NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office are actively working on returning assets to Ukraine and combating corruption schemes, believing that there is a “real possibility” of returning such an amount from abroad for the first time in the country’s history.
Furthermore, the bureau emphasized that
“with this money, for example, more than 100,000 FPV drones could be purchased. However, the destructive position of the acting head of Naftogaz may lead to the loss of such an opportunity, which anti-corruption agencies are actively working on. Protecting state interests is a shared responsibility of all state institutions, so the leadership of Naftogaz is obliged to take all necessary measures.”
At this moment, details regarding the origin of the assets mentioned in NABU’s statement have not been disclosed.
