The French defense factory Les Forges de Tarbes, which was on the brink of closure in 2021, is currently operating at full capacity. The facility is fulfilling orders for the production of casings for 155 mm artillery shells, prioritizing the supply to Ukraine and the modernization of European armies.

This is reported by AgroReview

This factory is the only manufacturer in France producing casings for 155 mm shells. After that, they are sent to the company KNDS for further assembly with explosives, resulting in finished ammunition. Last year, the facility produced 60,000 casings. Currently, the factory is producing 2,000 casings per week, with plans to increase production to 15,000 per month by the end of the year.

It is important to note that due to the war in Ukraine and the need to replenish the arsenals of European Union countries, the European defense industry has ramped up its production capabilities.

Additionally, one of the largest ammunition manufacturing companies in Europe, the Norwegian company Nammo, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with an unnamed Ukrainian enterprise. This partnership is based on a successful exchange of technologies in the production of 155 mm artillery ammunition.
