Expected Rise in Bread Prices: Expert Outlines Reasons for Price Increases

An online chat was held on the Glavred platform with the Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denys Marchuk, during which the most pressing issues of food security in Ukraine were discussed. According to the expert, in 2025, prices for bakery products will increase by at least 20%. This increase will occur gradually, with monthly price hikes of 1.5–2%.

Main Reasons for Price Increases

Among the key reasons for the price rise, Marchuk highlighted:

• Increase in production costs;
• Shortage of labor due to mobilization;
• Rising inflation, which has already exceeded 13%;
• Global food wheat shortage affecting domestic market prices.

Additionally, Denys Marchuk noted that prices for meat, dairy products, eggs, and vegetables will also remain high, and a significant decrease in prices is unlikely in the near future. The expert pointed out the threat of water shortages in Ukraine and potential risks of a food crisis in the future.

“Unfortunately, 2025 will not bring optimism to the Ukrainian consumer. We see a steady trend of rising costs for essential food products,” concluded Denys Marchuk.
