In March 2025, exports of goods from Ukraine reached a record $3.6 billion, which is 4.5% more than in March of last year and 18% more compared to February of this year. Overall, for the first quarter, goods exports amounted to nearly $9.9 billion.

Among key items, exports of pig iron increased by 13.4 times, adding an additional $110 million. There was also a notable increase in sunflower seed exports by 11.5 times (up $15.9 million), cake by 80.3% (up $35.8 million), and sunflower oil by 39.2% (up $141.6 million). As a result, the physical volume of exports stands at 9.98 million tons, which is 15.9% more than in February.

Changes in Exports by Transportation Methods

In March, maritime exports increased by 24.7% in monetary terms and by 17% in weight compared to February. Rail exports also showed positive dynamics, growing by 16.8% in monetary equivalent and by 15.1% in weight.

Ukraine’s Position in Foreign Markets

The Ministry of Economy noted that despite a decrease in the physical weight of exports, its monetary value is rising. For example, in March of last year, export volumes were 11.9 million tons worth $3.46 billion, while in March of this year, they were 9.9 million tons worth $3.62 billion. This indicates an increase in the share of goods with higher added value, suggesting that the Ukrainian processing industry is gradually overcoming the obstacles caused by the war and entering foreign markets.

Furthermore, the European Union remains Ukraine’s key trading partner, with the volume of goods supplied to EU countries in March amounting to $2.04 billion, which is 6.1% more compared to February.
