How the Agreement Between Ukraine and the USA on Minerals Will Strengthen F-35 Production

Ukraine is among the few European countries that possess significant titanium reserves, making Ukrainian deposits extremely attractive to American investors following the signing of a new agreement with the USA in the field of subsoil use. This was reported by Doctor of Geological Sciences Olena Remezova.

Titanium — A Strategic Resource for Industry and Defense
According to the expert, titanium has a wide range of applications in industry: it is used in the military-industrial complex, aviation, shipbuilding, the production of modern weapons, and machine engineering. Titanium products are distinguished by their high added value, which increases their economic worth across various sectors.
Olena Remezova emphasized:
“Titanium has a very wide range of applications. The added value in titanium products is very high. This includes the military-industrial complex, aircraft, modern ships, and weapons. In general, any machine engineering requires titanium.”
The Importance of Titanium and Strategic Alloys for American Fighters
In addition to the defense industry, titanium plays a key role in medicine, particularly in the production of prosthetics. The combination of titanium and lithium production opens new opportunities for creating powerful batteries for hybrid cars. American investors are particularly interested in titanium ores, as they contain scandium and vanadium — metals that are part of the alloys used to manufacture modern fighter jets like the F-16 and F-35. Several hundred kilograms of scandium are required for one aircraft.
According to Olena Remezova, Ukraine’s titanium reserves account for approximately 20% of the world’s total, significantly exceeding the resources of the Russian Federation.
