How Veterans Can Receive Up to 75% Compensation for Agricultural Equipment in 2026
In 2026, Ukraine continues to implement a state program supporting farmers with veteran status, allowing them to receive compensation of up to 75% of the cost of new agricultural equipment. The maximum payment amount for a single farm is 500,000 hryvnias. This mechanism has already proven its effectiveness in practice, and according to the organizers, all procedural steps are transparent and effective.

Participation Conditions and Benefits of the Compensation Program
The program, implemented by the Department of Agricultural Development, is aimed at war veterans, participants of ATO/JFO, and their families who are engaged in or plan to engage in farming activities. To participate, one must purchase new agricultural equipment in 2026 and then submit documents for compensation. The payment provides for reimbursement of up to 75% of the equipment’s cost excluding VAT, but not exceeding 500,000 hryvnias per farm. Both Ukrainian and foreign equipment can be purchased, but it is strictly prohibited to buy equipment manufactured in Russia or Belarus.
This year’s program budget has increased to 3 million hryvnias, allowing for a greater number of applicants compared to the previous year.
Results from Last Year and Practical Benefits
In 2025, eight veteran farms already benefited from this state support, updating their fleet of equipment — among the purchases were tractors, seeders, and sprayers. In particular, one enterprise in Lviv region, which has been cultivating hundreds of hectares of land for over two decades, received nearly the maximum compensation for the purchase of a new tractor.
The use of modern equipment allows for savings of up to 20% in fuel compared to older models, and timely fieldwork directly impacts yield. Delays in sowing or harvesting often lead to significant financial losses.
“For farmers who aspire to develop their farms, upgrading equipment is a starting point for ensuring stable profitability. The state compensation program significantly reduces the financial burden on participants.”
In addition to personal benefits for farm owners, the development of veteran farming contributes to budget revenue, job creation, and strengthening rural communities. According to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, at the beginning of 2026, there are over a million demobilized veterans in Ukraine, a significant portion of whom have close ties to rural areas. Their return to the agricultural sector is a substantial contribution to the country’s food security.
How to Apply and Who Can Benefit from the Program
To apply for compensation, it is necessary to prepare the appropriate package of documents and contact the Department of Agricultural Development at the address: 4 Vyacheslav Chornovil Avenue, Lviv. Additional consultations can be obtained by phone at 255-05-62 or directly at the department. It is important not to delay: the program budget is limited, and applications are considered in the order they are received.
War veterans, ATO/JFO participants, and their family members who are already engaged or plan to engage in farming activities have the right to participate. The equipment must be purchased specifically in 2026, and the country of manufacture can be any except Russia and Belarus. All necessary conditions are created — all that remains is to submit an application and take advantage of state support for the development of one’s farm.
