IMF Predicts Dollar Exchange Rate in Ukraine by 2030 and Economic Growth

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released an updated forecast regarding the exchange rate of the US dollar to the hryvnia and Ukraine’s economic indicators through 2030. According to the World Economic Outlook report from April 2025, the dollar is expected to reach 50 hryvnias only in 2029, and in 2030 it will be approximately 51.6 hryvnias per dollar.

Dollar Exchange Rate Forecast and Economic Growth in Ukraine

According to IMF calculations, the average annual exchange rate of the hryvnia to the dollar will decrease to 42.5 UAH/USD in 2025, which is an improvement compared to the previous forecast of 45.0 UAH/USD for the previous year. In 2026, a gradual increase to 45.6 UAH/USD is expected, in 2027 to 47.5 UAH/USD, and in 2028 to 48.9 UAH/USD. It is also projected that in 2029 the rate will be 50.1 UAH/USD, and in 2030 it will be 51.6 UAH/USD.

At the same time, the IMF has downgraded its forecasts for Ukraine’s economic growth. It is expected that in 2025 the country’s GDP will grow by only 2.0%, which is lower than the previous forecast of 2.5%. However, in 2026 the economy may grow by 4.5%, and in 2027 by 4.8%, indicating stabilization and gradual recovery.
