Kyiv Denies Possibility of US Agreement with Russia on Minerals

Kyiv categorically denies the information that the United States may enter into an agreement with Russia regarding minerals. Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, emphasized that the US will not sign any agreement, as both countries are competitors on the international stage.

Podolyak noted:
“Russia will definitely not give the US anything that would significantly increase America’s influence in relevant sectors. This concerns aerospace, telecommunications, and so on. Russia wants to have substantial influence on global markets through these tools.”
He emphasized that for Russia, the primary importance lies not only in financial gain but also in maintaining and strengthening its geopolitical influence, as this has been the reason for the war against Ukraine.
According to Podolyak, unlike Russia, Ukraine seeks a strategic partnership with the US. Currently, active discussions are ongoing at various levels regarding the agreement. He added that an agreement with the US could be beneficial for both sides: Kyiv needs technology and investment, while Washington, in turn, could significantly increase its competitive share in relevant global markets.
