The Verkhovna Rada has adopted bill No. 10027, which provides for the creation of a mandatory land reserve fund for combatants and the families of fallen servicemen.

Guaranteed Land Bank for Defenders

According to the new law, during the privatization of state or communal agricultural enterprises, up to 20% of agricultural land will be allocated to the state reserve. These plots are prohibited from being sold or leased to third parties – they are designated exclusively for veterans and the families of fallen soldiers.

The mechanism for land distribution is as follows: 80% of the plots remain available for regular privatization, while up to 20% are transferred to a specialized fund. This way, a guaranteed “land bank” is formed, ensuring the rights of defenders to land and preventing the distribution of all state lands without considering their interests.

Permanent Availability of Land for Veterans

“This will help solve the problem when veterans apply for land, and communities respond: ‘there is no available land.’ The reserve fund guarantees that land for veterans will always be accessible.”

The authors of the bill emphasize that the new mechanism is intended to be an effective tool for supporting combatants and their families, as well as promoting a fair distribution of state land resources.
