National Bank of Ukraine Issues Commemorative Coin in the Shape of a Pysanka ‘Easter Joy’

The National Bank of Ukraine has officially introduced a new commemorative coin titled ‘Easter Joy. Pysanka’, which is shaped like a traditional Ukrainian pysanka. This special release is dedicated to Ukrainian holidays and cultural heritage, as reported by the NBU press service on Telegram.

Description and Technical Specifications of the Coin

The new coin is made of 999 fine silver, with a net weight of 31.1 grams. It is adorned with enamel and local gold plating, giving it a unique appearance. Its nominal value is 10 hryvnias, and the mintage is limited to 15,000 pieces.

Images and Design of the Commemorative Coin

The reverse side of the coin features a traditional pysanka from the Odessa region, known as ‘Sorokoput’ or ‘Cossack Meadows’. It is decorated with intricate patterns, each carrying deep symbolic meaning. The obverse side displays a stylized tree of life in the form of an oak, adorned with 12 pysankas featuring ancient symbols of the Ukrainian people, symbolizing life force and traditions.

The commemorative coin will be available for purchase through the NBU’s online numismatic shop, as well as from bank distributors, the list of which is published on the regulator’s official website.
