At a recent meeting in Kyiv, the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” Oleksandr Pertsovskyi discussed these matters with the CEO of the Austrian railway company ÖBB Andreas Matthä. One of the key points was the creation of a new, more comfortable route between the two capitals. Although there is currently a train to Vienna, railway workers are eager to enhance travel conditions, reduce travel time, and increase passenger comfort.
Future Plans
Additionally, the possibility of launching a train to Uzhhorod is being discussed, which will allow for convenient access to Western Ukraine and provide quick transfers to European destinations. This decision will significantly expand travel opportunities and strengthen transportation links between the countries.
The parties also agreed on cooperation in staff training. Selected employees of “Ukrzaliznytsia” will undergo training in Vienna. The training will focus on improving the quality of passenger service, technical maintenance, and implementing European practices in the work of Ukrainian railway workers.
Integration into the European Transport System
This exchange of experience will enhance the service level in Ukrainian trains, making them more comfortable and convenient for passengers. Special attention will be paid to adapting international service standards, which will facilitate Ukraine’s integration into the European transport system.
“Thanks to cooperation with ÖBB, Ukraine is gaining new opportunities for integration into the European transport system.”
ÖBB is one of the leading railway companies in Europe, providing both domestic and international transportation. Its network covers many countries in Europe, including the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, and others.
