Since the opening of the land market in Ukraine in July 2021, only about 3% of the total agricultural land has been bought or sold, which amounts to approximately 1% per year. Against this backdrop, the price of land has increased from ₴34,000 to ₴54,000 per hectare, and after the war, further growth is expected, potentially reaching 100-200%. This was reported by Taras Vysotsky, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy.

In comparison, in European Union countries, the annual turnover of land is approximately 2-3%. Meanwhile, analysts report that in Ukraine, large landowners have reduced the area of their land plots by 8,225 hectares over the past year. The number of companies owning more than 100 hectares has decreased from 283 to 217.

Of this number, 34 companies are registered in temporarily occupied territories. The largest landowners include “Agrofirm Svitank” with over 5,000 hectares, “Druzhkivske Rudoupravlinnya” with 3,300 hectares, and the company “Zernyatko-Pivden” which has 2,700 hectares.

As of January 2024, the land market is open for business; however, instead of the anticipated wave of purchases, businesses are reducing their land plots. Since the market opened, companies have sold 2,554 land plots.
