Posthumous Title of Hero of Ukraine Awarded to Oleksandr Hordiienko

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine to farmer Oleksandr Hordiienko from Kherson region. The relevant document was published on November 10, 2025, under number №836/2025.

“To award the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star to HORDIIENKO Oleksandr Dmytrovych — head of the Public Organization ‘Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Kherson Region’ (posthumously),” the statement reads.

Details of the Verkhovna Rada’s Decision

The Verkhovna Rada supported the posthumous awarding of the title of Hero of Ukraine to Oleksandr Hordiienko on October 21. A total of 271 members of parliament voted in favor of the relevant resolution. This decision was made after a second review — during the first vote, the parliamentarians did not support this initiative.

Oleksandr Hordiienko and His Heroism

Oleksandr Hordiienko led the Public Organization ‘Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Kherson Region’ and actively defended the rights of agrarians in the region. He died on September 5, 2025: while working in the field, his vehicle was struck by a Russian drone.
