The issue of the so-called ‘checkerboard’ in agricultural fields remains relevant for farmers not only from abroad but also for all agricultural producers in Ukraine. Currently, specialists are seeking ways to comprehensively address this issue at the level of local communities.

Discussion at the Agricultural Committee Level

As noted by MP Dmytro Solomchuk, the ‘checkerboard’ issue is currently being addressed within a single land plot. However, during the meeting of the agricultural committee held on April 7, a proposal was initiated to prepare an appeal to state institutions. Its aim is to allow for the regulation of this problem across the entire community, rather than just within individual plots.

“Currently, the ‘checkerboard’ issue is being resolved within a single plot, but at the agricultural committee meeting on April 7, we discussed this matter. We are preparing an appeal from the committee to the relevant state institutions so that it can be regulated at the community level,” said the MP.

The Importance of Technological Processing of Fields and the Development of Organic Farming

In Dmytro Solomchuk’s opinion, the ‘checkerboard’ creates significant difficulties for all farmers conducting business in Ukraine. He emphasized the need for developing solutions that would allow all agricultural producers to freely cultivate their fields using modern technologies. Special attention is given to situations where organic lands are located next to traditional farms, as the MP believes that organic production holds the future for the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
