Main Objectives of the Bill
The revised bill is designed to create an effective legal framework for the breeding, protection, and use of bees, as well as for the production, processing, and sale of quality and safe beekeeping products. Special attention is given to protecting the rights and interests of industry participants, implementing modern technologies and scientific approaches, and ensuring the sustainability of beekeeping as a key component of the agricultural sector.
Among the important aspects of the document is the intention to digitize the processes of maintaining registry data on apiaries and veterinary-sanitary passports. It is planned to introduce an operational notification system for beekeepers regarding the use of plant protection products or other factors that may affect the health of bees.
Key Changes for Beekeepers and the Industry
The adoption of the bill will allow for the creation of digital registries of veterinary-sanitary passports and apiaries, significantly simplifying control and accounting in the industry. Breeding work will be regulated, and control over the import of new bees will be strengthened through the implementation of modern digital tools. A clear mechanism for accountability for violations in the beekeeping sector is also planned, which will better protect the interests of beekeepers.
“A transitional period of 3 years is also proposed to help beekeepers adapt to the new conditions of digitalization in the beekeeping industry.”
The new bill will serve as a foundation for further modernization and digital transformation of Ukrainian beekeeping, contributing to improved quality standards of products and economic efficiency in the industry.
