Ukraine and Moldova Launch Energy and Infrastructure Projects for Eurointegration

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu held talks focused on developing cooperation in the fields of energy and transport infrastructure. The main focus is on the joint integration of both countries into the European Union and the implementation of strategic projects that will enhance the economic and energy security of the region.

Energy Partnership and Support

The parties expressed interest in cooperation between national energy operators – “Ukrenergo” and “Moldelectric”. As part of the agreements, the construction of new power lines and the creation of additional interconnectors are being considered, which will strengthen the energy independence and resilience of both states. An important step was the support from Moldova, which provided Ukraine with a package of assistance worth €700,000. This assistance included generators, transformers, medical equipment, transportation, and other necessary resources.

“We have a shared vision for the future in the EU, and the path of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU should be a joint one, so that everyone in our region benefits from the strengthening of our peoples and Europe as a whole,” emphasized Zelensky.

Development of Transport Infrastructure

Particular attention during the talks was given to the development of transport infrastructure, especially border facilities. The countries agreed to open a new crossing point on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border, which will significantly ease control, improve conditions for trade and transit, and create additional opportunities for freight transport.

Both sides emphasized that joint efforts to modernize energy and transport systems will contribute to sustainable development and strengthen the positions of Ukraine and Moldova in the European direction.
