Ukraine Can Increase Drone Production by 40% in 2025 with Partner Support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced ambitious plans for the country’s defense technology development at the GLOBSEC 2025 international forum. According to him, Ukraine intends to increase the production of all types of drones—air, ground, and maritime—by 40% this year, provided it receives adequate financial support from international partners.

“We must support all forms of defense cooperation, especially those that help us become increasingly technologically advanced and utilize drones of all kinds: in the air, on land, and at sea. Ukraine is ready to increase drone production by 40% in the near future, starting this year. Our factories have the necessary capacity; we just lack funding. This needs to be addressed.”
The Importance of International Support for the Defense Industry
Zelensky emphasized the need for prompt responses from partners, stressing that Ukraine must stay ahead of its enemies in drone technology. The production facilities in the country are already ready for scaling, but the implementation of plans is only possible with funding.
The European Union’s Position on Supporting Ukraine
European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius, speaking at the Brussels Forum organized by the German Marshall Fund, urged EU countries to promptly utilize the financial and credit resources of the European Union to support the Ukrainian defense industry. He highlighted the effectiveness of joint cooperation, noting that Ukrainian enterprises can produce high-quality weapons at half the cost compared to European manufacturers.
Thus, the further growth of Ukraine’s defense capabilities directly depends on the financial assistance of international partners, which will enable large-scale drone production for the protection of the country.
