Ukraine has the potential to almost fully supply the European Union with agricultural products grown on its territory. This was stated by Taras Vysotsky, Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy.

Partnership with the European Union

According to Vysotsky, “Objectively speaking, we see in the agricultural sector of the EU not just interest, but a quite logical and mutually beneficial partnership. Globally, there are many areas where the EU remains import-dependent.”

Main Agricultural Products

He noted that this particularly concerns the protein group – soybeans, other legumes, as well as partially the grain group, primarily corn. There is also some import of sugar and livestock products.

“Ukraine can raise the level of supply to the EU to nearly 100% for those crops that we grow. This is about diversifying risks – geopolitical, trade, and others, when you are confident that everything necessary to provide basic food for over half a billion people is within your political, economic, and security union,” he emphasized.

Additionally, according to him, surplus products can be jointly exported by combining the efforts of Ukraine and the EU.
