“These are funds we received after the successful seventh review of the EFF program. Thus, the total IMF support under this initiative has exceeded $10 billion,” Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.
On March 28, the IMF Executive Board completed the seventh review of the extended funding mechanism for Ukraine. According to the fund, this decision allowed the Ukrainian authorities to access $0.4 billion, which will be directed towards budget support. Consequently, the total amount of disbursements under the IMF program will reach $10.1 billion.
The IMF also noted that Ukraine’s economic growth in 2024 remains stable; however, a slowdown is observed in the second half of the year. It is projected that the slowdown will continue into 2025 due to an increasingly challenging labor market, the impact of attacks on energy infrastructure, and ongoing uncertainty regarding the further course of the war. The overall outlook remains “extremely uncertain.”
It is worth noting that inflation in Ukraine is also expected to rise in the coming months, but later this year, the inflation rate may decrease to single digits.
