Ukrainian Defense Industry Grows to ₴1.5 Trillion: Preparing for Export

The Secretary of the Parliamentary Defense Committee, Roman Kostenko, reported a significant increase in Ukraine’s defense industry, which fulfilled state orders worth approximately ₴70-80 billion in 2022. In 2023, this figure has already exceeded ₴200 billion, and in 2024, it reached nearly ₴400 billion. According to forecasts, by 2025, the defense industry will be able to fulfill orders worth ₴1.5 trillion.

Kostenko emphasized that this applies not only to state enterprises, as private companies that emerged during the war also play an important role in the sector. The defense industry includes factories engaged in tank repairs, as well as enterprises that produce drones and missiles. Currently, defense enterprises in Ukraine are capable of producing over 10 million drones per year, but there is an urgent need to manufacture domestic components, as most drones consist of foreign parts.
“Criteria are currently being developed for the export of certain Ukrainian defense products or their components to partner countries. I am confident that a relevant decision will be made in the near future,” he informed.
