The National Commission on Biosecurity of Brazil (CTNBio) has officially approved the cultivation of the genetically modified soybean hybrid DBN9004×DBN8002, developed by Beijing Dabeinong Technology Group (DBN). This variety, which combines traits from two parent lines — DBN9004 and DBN8002, is designed to provide resistance to herbicides and pests.

International Strategy and Potential for Cooperation

Previously, in 2023 and 2024, individual varieties of soybeans DBN9004 and DBN8002 had already been approved for cultivation in Brazil. Now, the hybrid DBN9004×DBN8002 combines their best properties, offering comprehensive protection and enhanced efficiency for agricultural producers.

With approvals obtained in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, these transgenic varieties form the foundation of DBN’s strategy, which involves “exporting technology and importing grain.” Chinese seed companies are actively expanding partnerships with major soybean-producing countries, applying modern agronomic methods, innovative management practices, and advanced storage and processing technologies.

Impact on the Agricultural Sector and Economy

Beijing Dabeinong Technology Group is a recognized leader in China’s agricultural industry, known for its strong brand and high competitiveness in the global market. The company’s goal is to expand the markets for its developed varieties, and the approval in Brazil strengthens its position among the leading global seed producers.

“The approval of the soybean hybrid DBN9004×DBN8002 in Brazil strengthens DBN’s position in the global seed market and contributes to the increased export potential of Chinese agrotechnologies. This decision by CTNBio demonstrates recognition of the achievements of Chinese breeding and opens new prospects for cooperation between Brazil and China in agriculture.”

The innovative hybrid will enable Brazilian farmers to increase yields and reduce plant protection costs, positively impacting the country’s economic indicators and strengthening its position in the global soybean market. Experts emphasize that this decision is a sign of Brazil’s openness to innovations in biotechnology and enhances trust in modern scientific developments in agriculture.

In the future, collaboration between Chinese and Brazilian companies in the fields of breeding and biotechnology may lead to the creation of new soybean varieties with improved characteristics that are optimally adapted to local climatic and production conditions. Such steps will contribute to enhancing the resilience of the agricultural sector and strengthening food security.
