Average Pension Size in Ukraine: Current Data and Regional Differences
The average pension size in Ukraine in October 2025 is 6,436 hryvnias, which is approximately 133 euros at the current exchange rate. This level of payments is comparable to pensions in Albania but significantly lags behind most European countries.

Distribution of Pension Payments Among Ukrainian Pensioners
According to the latest data, nearly one-third of Ukrainian pensioners — over 3.3 million people — receive a minimum pension of 3,340 hryvnias per month (about 69 euros). Another 4% of pensioners live on even less — around 2,300 hryvnias per month.
“It is worth noting that last year there were even more such pensioners — 26% received less than 3,000 UAH, but after indexing, payments increased to 3,000 UAH per month,” the report states.
In contrast, about 1.5 million Ukrainians (15% of the total number of pensioners) have an average pension of 15,750 UAH (about 325 euros). Nearly 3 million pensioners receive an average of 6,860 hryvnias, while another 2.1 million receive only 4,510 UAH each month.
Comparison with European Countries and Regional Differences
Analysts note that pensions in Ukraine remain among the lowest in Europe. For comparison: in Romania and Bulgaria, the average pension ranges from 450 to 550 euros, in Poland and the Czech Republic — from 800 to 900 euros per month, and in Albania — approximately 160 euros.
The highest pensions in Ukraine are traditionally received by residents of Kyiv — on average 8,848 hryvnias, which is 37% higher than the national average. The lowest payments are recorded in the western regions: in Ternopil — 4,997 UAH, in Chernivtsi region — 5,173 UAH, and in Transcarpathia — 5,233 UAH.
It is worth noting that over a quarter of Ukrainian pensioners — 2.8 million people — continue to work after retiring. They receive an average of 7,069 hryvnias per month.
