Average Pension in Ukraine Increased to 6,341 Hryvnias in April 2025

As of April 1, 2025, the average pension in Ukraine reached 6,341.11 hryvnias, according to official data released by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Payments for working pensioners were even higher — 6,862.86 hryvnias. This increase in figures was noticeable compared to the beginning of the year when the average pension was 5,789.05 hryvnias for all pensioners and 6,302.76 hryvnias for working pensioners.

Pension Distribution by Amount

According to the Pension Fund’s data, more than half of pensioners receive low pensions. Specifically, 56.5% of pensioners have payments that do not exceed 5,000 hryvnias. Among them:

• 3.8% receive a pension of up to 3,000 hryvnias,
• 32.3% receive between 3,001 and 4,000 hryvnias,
• 20.4% receive between 4,001 and 5,000 hryvnias.

Pensions ranging from 5,001 to 10,000 hryvnias are assigned to 28.9% of Ukrainian pensioners, while 14.5% receive more than 10,000 hryvnias.

Number of Pensioners and Payment Structure

At the beginning of April 2025, there were 10.3 million pensioners in Ukraine, of which 2.9 million are working. The majority of them, specifically 72.5%, receive an old-age pension, while 15.2% have a disability pension.

In 2024, 736.4 billion hryvnias were allocated from the state budget for pension financing, while total expenditures on the social sphere amounted to 953 billion hryvnias.
