In Belgorod and the region, over 20,000 residents are left without electricity after a strike on the CHP
In the city of Belgorod and surrounding areas, part of the population has been left without electricity following a missile strike on the local combined heat and power plant “Luch.” According to Russian Telegram channels, this is already the second CHP in the city to be hit in the last month — the previous one was put out of operation a few weeks ago.

Strike on the “Luch” CHP and its consequences for Belgorod
As reported by Russian media, during the attack on the “Luch” CHP, significant damage was inflicted on the gas turbine units that generated electricity for the city. Until now, this station had remained the only one operational in Belgorod after the equipment at another CHP was destroyed. Some sources claim that transformers were also damaged, but electricity supply may be restored in the near future.
Official response and scale of the outage
The governor of Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, indirectly confirmed the strike on the energy facility. According to him, the Russian air defense allegedly shot down several aerial targets, and debris caused fires in garage premises. However, it was not officially stated what exactly caused the power outages — damage to the CHP or the fire in the garages.
“Additionally, there are electricity issues on several streets. Power supply is also absent in part of the Dubove settlement in the Belgorod district. Over 20,000 residents remain without electricity,” Gladkov stated, without clarifying what exactly caused the power outage in half the city — the fire in the garage or the operation of the Russian air defense.
Currently, a significant part of Belgorod and the Belgorod region remains without electricity. Local authorities have not disclosed specific timelines for the restoration of power supply, and the situation with electricity remains tense.
