A Bridge Will Be Built in Odesa Region Across the Danube to Romania with International Funds

A large-scale construction of a new bridge across the Danube, which will connect Ukraine with Romania and become a key part of the major southern transport corridor towards the European Union, will begin in the Odesa region. According to the plan, the bridge will be built in the village of Orlivka in the Izmail district, and on the other side of the river, it will connect with the Romanian city of Isaccea.

International Significance and Route Shortening
The Orlivka–Isaccea bridge project has already been included in the Recovery and Development Strategy for the Odesa region for 2025–2027. The bridge will be integrated into the international route E87, which connects Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey. Thanks to the new crossing, the journey to Isaccea will be shortened by approximately 80 km, significantly enhancing the logistical efficiency of the region and improving transport connections with EU countries.
Funding and Implementation Stages
The construction of the facility is planned to be financed through international aid. The total investment will exceed ₴12.6 billion, which will be distributed over three years: in 2025, ₴1.26 billion is allocated, in 2026 — nearly ₴3.8 billion, and in 2027 — over ₴7.5 billion.
The project implementation will include design, environmental studies, the actual construction of the bridge, the arrangement of access roads, the creation of checkpoints, and the connection of the new crossing to major international highways.
