Centrenergo Completely Halts Generation Due to Massive Attack on Thermal Power Plants
As a result of one of the largest attacks by Russia on energy infrastructure since the beginning of the full-scale war, the company “Centrenergo” reported a complete halt in electricity production at its thermal power plants. The massive shelling caused significant destruction, leading to the shutdown of all generation that had been restored after previous strikes in 2024.

Unprecedented Attack on Energy Facilities
According to the company, this time the thermal power plants suffered an unprecedentedly powerful strike: the enemy used a large number of missiles and kamikaze drones simultaneously, targeting several units per minute specifically at those facilities that had been restored after last year’s destruction. The attack occurred less than a month after the previous shelling.
“An unprecedented number of missiles and countless drones, targeting several at a time those same thermal power plants that we restored after the devastating attack in 2024,” the statement emphasizes.
Consequences for the Energy Sector and Further Actions
The company noted that none of the thermal power plants are military facilities, and only civilian specialists work at the enterprises. As a result of the shelling, the enterprise lost all restored capacities, and currently, the volume of electricity production is zero. At the same time, “Centrenergo” emphasizes that it will continue work on restoration and modernization of generation, as the company has no other choice.
