China Achieves Record Grain Harvest in 2025 — Over 714 Million Tons
In 2025, China achieved the highest grain harvest in history, gathering 714.88 million tons. This figure exceeded last year’s result by 1.2% and has remained above the 700 million ton mark for the second consecutive year.

Trends in Major Crop Production
Over the past nine years, China has maintained an annual grain production volume of over 650 million tons, but only in the last two years have these figures significantly exceeded 700 million tons. The area planted with grains in 2025 increased by 0.1%, reaching 119.4 million hectares. The yield per hectare also rose by 1.1% compared to 2024.
Record Figures for Individual Crops
The rice harvest in 2025 increased by 0.7%, reaching 209 million tons. The volume of wheat harvested was 140.1 million tons, which is virtually unchanged from last year’s result.
Particular attention is drawn to corn production: in 2025, its harvest set a new record — 301.2 million tons, which is 2.1% more than in 2024.
