The agrocompany ‘Skif’, located in the Poltava region, is considering the possibility of building a biogas plant. According to the owner of the enterprise, Oleksiy Bovdyr, the project is already prepared: the company has the necessary raw materials, land plot, and a developed concept. However, the implementation of the initiative is postponed until the situation in the country stabilizes.

Own Raw Materials and Development Strategy

The enterprise is actively engaged in animal husbandry, which not only allows for the provision of organic fertilizers for the fields but also creates a foundation for the development of the energy sector. As Oleksiy Bovdyr notes, manure for the company is not just waste, but a valuable raw material for the production of biogas and electricity.

“We have raw materials for biogas. The question of building a biogas plant is on the table, it is well-known, there are already certain developments, and there are people to design and build it. In principle, there is also a land plot. But we need some stability in the country; until then, I see no sense in building,” says Bovdyr.

Export Potential and Energy Security

Oleksiy Bovdyr emphasizes that the development of biogas and electricity production is strategically important for the company. Biogas can be exported, generating foreign currency revenues, as some Ukrainian agricultural holdings are already doing. At the same time, generating electricity on their own will reduce risks in the event of possible attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.
