Most agricultural enterprises today strive to reduce costs in order to achieve maximum profitability from each hectare. The agronomic service of the Alebor Group also adheres to this approach, but places a primary focus not only on savings but also on maintaining high productivity and grain quality.

Flexible Approach to Cultivation Technologies

According to the chief agronomist of Alebor Group, Yevhen Mateichuk, decisions regarding cost reduction are based on an analysis of weather conditions and the ability to maintain yield without additional expenses. In particular, soil and insurance herbicides are usually applied to sunflower crops. However, last year, due to the absence of weed threats, the use of insurance herbicides was canceled, limiting it to just soil herbicides. In the wheat fields in 2024, some areas were not treated along the spike due to abnormally high temperatures.

“Everything depends on the weather conditions. If we can reduce costs and lower technology expenses without harming the productivity of crops or the quality of grain, we go for it. For example, we usually work with soil and insurance herbicides on sunflowers. Last year, there was no need to apply the insurance herbicide – we limited ourselves to the soil one. In 2024, we did not treat part of the wheat fields along the spike because of the high temperatures,” notes Yevhen Mateichuk.

Modern Technologies for Increasing Efficiency

In addition to adjusting crop protection systems, the company also practices the abandonment of certain operations when they are unnecessary. For instance, last year, fungicide protection for rapeseed was not carried out at the final flowering stage. At the same time, due to a mass appearance of cabbage moths, additional treatment for rapeseed was organized to control this pest.

Elements of precision agriculture play an important role in reducing costs. The agricultural machinery of the enterprise operates using GPS signals and task maps, and the seeders are equipped with section control systems. For effective monitoring, data analysis, and optimization of production processes, the digital platform Cropwise is used, which enhances the accuracy and effectiveness of all operations in the fields.
