One of Brazil’s largest agricultural cooperatives, Frísia Agroindustrial Cooperative, has signed an agreement to purchase a soy processing plant from Louis Dreyfus Co (LDC). The plant is located on an area of 58.08 hectares and is a significant industrial facility with a production capacity of 3,400 tons of soy per day. The complex includes grain storage facilities with a capacity of 300,000 tons, modern production lines, and its own cleaning energy zone (CEZ).

Acquisition Goals and Strategic Development

The new asset will be an important element in Frísia’s development and will strengthen the cooperative’s position in the market. The plant specializes in producing products for the rapidly growing biofuel sector and supplies soybean meal to both the domestic market and for export. Additionally, the enterprise produces by-products such as lecithin and soybean hulls, which are in demand in the food industry and livestock farming.

“According to the managing director of Frísia, the purchase is a key element of the long-term development strategy and a significant step forward for the cooperative movement in the state of Paraná.”

Terms of the Agreement and Next Steps

The completion of the agreement is subject to approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) — Brazil’s antitrust authority — as well as obtaining all necessary licenses and permits. Frísia expects the process to be completed in the second half of 2026. There is a specific emphasis on the importance of retaining the existing staff of the enterprise after the integration of the plant into the cooperative’s structure.
