A New Stage in the Development of Logistics in Transcarpathia
The terminal, located in Batyovo in Transcarpathia, will operate as a joint venture under the name HHLA Eurobridge Batiovo. It has been established in partnership with HHLA International GmbH and the Ukrainian investment company Fortior Capital LLC.
HHLA will gain control over the management of the terminal and, together with its subsidiary METRANS, plans to develop the facility to enhance the transportation infrastructure of the region. The finalization of the deal is subject to approval by the antimonopoly authorities of Ukraine.
The Potential and Strategic Importance of the Terminal
“The terminal is located near the border with the EU, at the intersection of international railway corridors, and has access to both broad (1520 mm) and European (1435 mm) gauge tracks. In the first phase of expansion, the terminal will be able to handle the equivalent of approximately 100,000 twenty-foot containers per year. If necessary, its capacity can be increased.”
Due to its advantageous location, the terminal will become an important logistics hub at the crossroads of transport routes between Ukraine and the countries of the European Union. In the first phase of development, the terminal’s capacity will allow it to handle up to 100,000 twenty-foot containers annually, and if necessary, this figure can be significantly increased.
