The agricultural holding Kernel has approved a comprehensive strategy for the development of its energy sector, focused on expanding renewable generation. This was announced by the company’s CEO, Yevhen Osypov, during his speech at the Forbes Agro 2026 conference.

New Strategic Course and Business Diversification

According to the head of the company, the decision to actively invest in the energy sector has become part of a long-term strategy and allows for the diversification of the agricultural holding’s activities.

“We have made a strategic decision to enter the energy sector. The liquidity we have today is one of the components of new investments,” he said.

Kernel began its first investments in its own energy projects back in 2018. During this time, the company has directed approximately 230 million dollars towards the development of cogeneration plants. All of the holding’s production assets are now fully powered by energy from renewable sources, which is a significant step towards energy independence.

European Course and New Investments

As emphasized by Yevhen Osypov, the development of its own green energy contributes to the integration of Ukrainian enterprises into the European economic space and meets global sustainable development standards.

In 2025, the company successfully completed the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 20 MW. Over the next two years, Kernel plans to invest an additional approximately 400 million dollars to increase its energy capacities.

To scale its energy projects, the agricultural holding is actively negotiating with leading international financial institutions, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
