The fast-food restaurant chain KFC continues to actively develop in Ukraine even under the challenging conditions of war. Investments in Development and Support for the Ukrainian Market
Alina Kiptik emphasized that the decision to open new restaurants during wartime was driven not only by the desire to expand the business but also by a sense of responsibility towards society. The company has directed significant funds towards ensuring the energy independence of its establishments, enhancing security, supporting staff, improving the qualifications of management teams, digitizing business processes, and developing partnerships with Ukrainian suppliers.
“This was a decision not about expansion, but about responsibility and resilience. For us, it was not just about business growth, but an investment in jobs, the economy, and confidence in the country’s future,” she stated.
Updating the Operational Model and International Experience
With the onset of the full-scale war, KFC restructured its operational model. The chain implemented crisis management with short decision-making cycles, equipped restaurants with generators and alternative energy sources, and empowered local managers to respond quickly to challenges. Logistics were also modernized, ensuring operational stability even in the most difficult conditions.
The Kentucky Fried Chicken chain, founded in 1952 by Harland Sanders, has been owned by Yum! Brands since 1997, which also includes the brands Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. The headquarters is located in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. There are over 30,000 KFC restaurants operating in more than 150 countries worldwide. In Ukraine, the first restaurant of the chain opened in 2012 in Kyiv, and since then, the brand has continued to grow despite all challenges.
