Solaris Commodities Expands Operations in Brazil and Enters New Agricultural Markets
Solaris Commodities, a leader in the Russian wheat trading market, has announced plans for significant expansion of its operations. The company is prioritizing entry into the markets of Brazil, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as developing its business in logistics and agricultural product processing.

Strategic Changes Following Headquarters Relocation
After the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Solaris relocated its headquarters from Geneva to Dubai. This decision was driven by increased caution from Swiss banks in financing Russian companies, despite the fact that agricultural products were not subject to Western sanctions. Solaris Commodities now positions itself not only as a trader but also as an investor in integrated supply chains, ensuring control over key stages — from production to logistics.
Strengthening Positions in Brazil and Business Diversification
Brazil has become one of the main areas for the company’s development, alongside the countries of the Middle East and Africa. Oleg Pankratov, the CEO and head of investments for Solaris in the region, stated that the company aims to become a significant player in the trading market not only for wheat but also for other agricultural crops, particularly due to its access to the Brazilian market.
Last year, Solaris Commodities acquired a controlling stake in Humberg Agribrazil, allowing it to enter the corn and soybean markets in Brazil and gain access to port infrastructure. Additionally, the company has become the owner of a terminal in San Francisco do Sul in southern Brazil, where further capacity expansion is planned.
“We are investing in supply chains,” Pankratov noted. “We have transport in Kazakhstan, a terminal in Brazil, a terminal in Egypt, and a processing complex in Oman. All of this provides stable income and allows us to strengthen our positions in global markets.”
