Key Project Characteristics and Its Strategic Importance
This involves a long-term concession for 40 years, which includes the management of two terminals — a container terminal and a universal terminal. According to estimates, the project has the capacity to handle up to 760,000 twenty-foot containers annually and over 5 million tons of cargo. This is an important element in creating the Ukrainian corridor, which contributes to the diversification of freight routes, enhances the stability of trade relations, and improves customs efficiency.
“The terminal concession is not just an infrastructure project. It is an opportunity for investors to become part of a new logistics system in the Black Sea,” stated the Ministry of Economic Development and Agriculture of Ukraine.
Previously, the Polish Ministry of Agriculture expressed interest in the possibility of leasing or purchasing the port in Odesa, which would allow them to gain access to the Black Sea and expand the export of Ukrainian and European grain.
Additionally, the Danish container carrier — A.P. Moeller-Maersk AS — has shown interest in the concession of the Chornomorsk port terminal and is actively discussing prospects for cooperation.
