Ukraine’s Largest Fish Factory Expands Processing of River Fish and Seeks Suppliers

Klion Group, the largest fish processing plant in Ukraine located in Zaporizhzhia and producing products under the Veladis brand, has announced its intention to expand its range by processing Ukrainian river fish. Currently, the enterprise produces about 250 types of products, including canned goods, fish spreads, caviar, burgers, fish sticks, and minced fish. Every minute, 60 cans of herring come off the production line, and the plant produces about 800 tons of finished products each month.

Production Potential and Workforce Challenges

The Klion Group plant employs 1,200 workers, and its production capacity allows for a threefold increase in output. However, fully realizing these opportunities is hindered by a shortage of qualified personnel, which is a pressing issue for the enterprise, especially in the context of martial law and proximity to combat zones.

Development Strategy and Partner Search

Despite the challenging situation in the region, Klion Group is making ambitious plans for further development. In addition to processing imported fish, the company plans to launch industrial processing of fish caught in Ukraine’s inland waters, including silver carp, carp, and pike perch. The company is currently actively seeking partners who can provide stable supplies of these types of fish.

Part of the imported fish that Klion Group receives comes from its own fishing vessels operating off the coast of Uruguay. At the same time, most of the ingredients for the products, including packaging, vegetable oil, and salt, are sourced from domestic producers. After the war, the company plans to invest in organizing fish farming in Ukraine.
